With the boards still vibrating from the Strictly dance gang at the NIA at the weekend, the programme's badboy Brendan Cole blew into town hot on their heels cocking a snook at the show's bosses.

He wasn't with his Strictly chums because the professional dancers are not paid as much as the show's celebrity dancers and judges, he told last night's audience at The Alex.

And that was fine because it meant having the 35-year-old New Zealand smoothie all to themselves.

The prancer with pecs' appeal kept up a running repartee with his saucy and very vocal fans in the stalls while the first half of mainly Latin was brought to a close with a mass salsa session.

The second hour brought ballroom before Cole took on a Michael Buble number and Stevie Wonder's Superstition. Word of advice Bren, let your feet do the singing.

Sharing a small stage with a 14-piece orchestra is not ideal when you are putting on a dance show but this one seemed to work thanks largely to Cole's engaging personality and mesmerising talent.
