Actors are preparing to stage hit musical comedy Hot Mikado at a Walsall theatre next month.
The Forest Arts Theatre Company is putting on the 1940s update of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic from February 8 to February 11. The story is set in a little town in Japan where flirting is punishable by death.
Throw in the beautiful Yum Yum, her admirer Nanki-Poo, errant son of the Mikado, and man-eater Katisha, and the stage is set for a memorable comic opera.
Entertainments officer at Walsall Council Julie Simmonds said families were in for a fun time at the show after weeks of rehearsals.
"The original catchy score is given a contemporary feel with swing, jive and sassy songs plus a little gospel and rhythm and blues thrown in for good measure," she said.
Tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £10 and £8 and are available from Forest Arts Centre, in Hawbush Road, Leamore, or by calling 01922 654555.
