Dudley dancing granny lends a hand amid virus
A dancing granny has swapped her dancing shoes for walking boots with four-legged friends in tow.
Jacky Fellows, co-founder of the Fizzogs comedy act, is offering walks to dogs from Wombourne, Swindon, Himley, Trysull, Lower Penn, Wall Heath, Caunsall and Kinver in conjunction with the Stourbridge-based Muddy Boots group.
The Dancing Grannies have gained global recognition for their routines but have had to reduce their activities because the of Covid-19 restrictions.
Jacky hopes her dog-walking venture will offer a vital service during the pandemic.
She said: “Sale of puppies has increased during the lockdown. These new pets have had the luxury of owners being at home but may experience problems with separation anxiety once owners return to work.
“A dog walking service where pets are exercised and socialised with other dogs for an hour will go a long way to alleviate the stress of being left alone.”
Jacky is a life-long dog lover and currently has a French bulldog called Frank.
A professional artist, Jacky has also been busy painting commissions while the Fizzogs have been furloughed.
Jacky added:” The Grannies have been furloughed but they haven’t been idle, they’ve been dancing in their own living rooms and meeting up via Zoom videos.
“They’ve even added a new string to their bow. Their latest video saw them singing and dancing to advertise the marvellous efforts of the Dudley chapter of the ‘Love of Scrubs’, a group of ladies who have come together to make and sew much needed PPE for hospitals and front line service staff.
“Although the Grannies have been busy, they’re struggling on their meagre pension - hence the new ventures.”
