Cast announced for The Sound of Music in Wolverhampton

The cast for The Sound of Music at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre has been announced.

Over the Rainbow finalist Emilie Fleming will take on the role of Maria, while Coronation Street super villain Andrew Lancel, who played Frank Foster in the soap, will reprise his role as Captain von Trapp.

Welsh soprano Megan Llewellyn will play the role of Mother Abbess and will be joined by Howard Samuels as Max, Michael Anderson as Rolf, Nicole Farrar as Liesl, Alexander Evans as Herr Zeller, Zoe Ann Bown as Sister Margaretta and Georgina Hagen as Sister Berthe.

The cast is completed by Katie Shearman as Sister Sophia, Sophie Christine as Ursula, Olivia Alexander as Baroness Elberfeld, Jon de Ville as Franz, Wendy-Lee Purdy as Frau Schmidt, Paul Lavers as Admiral von Schreiber, Sam Tithecott as Baron Elberfeld and Jack Churms is Swing.

The show is inspired by the story of the von Trapp Family Singers and Baroness Maria von Trapp’s 1949 autobiography.

The Sound of Music features a score of memorable songs, including Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, So Long, Farewell and of course, the iconic title song, The Sound of Music.

The show runs from March 3 to 7.
