Nearly 500 have already been snapped up to see the comedian, real name Simon Brodkin, who has hit the headlines for a number of high-profile stunts over the past couple of years.

They include most recently handing Prime Minister Theresa May a P45 at the Tory party conference, and fooling Simon Cowell by faking his way onto a live audition for Britain’s Got Talent dressed as a Jewish orthodox rapper.

But it is as cheeky chappie Nelson that Brodkin is still best known, having appeared three times on BBC’s Live At The Apollo. He also had two of his own BBC series, Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Lee Nelson’s Well Funny People.

Nelson will be supported by Dane Baptiste, who has also appeared on Live At The Apollo as well as Mock The Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and John Robertson, a brilliantly manic Australian whose sets are almost completely improvised.

The night will be hosted as ever by Dudley comic Wayne Beese, who said: “We’re really excited about this line-up and this show.

“Lee Nelson is one of the most recognisable and highly-sought after acts in the country, so we feel it’s a real coup to be able to bring him to the Civic and an indication we’re building a good reputation on the circuit.

“He is a quite brilliant live act, with some of the best audience interaction and quick wit you will see.

“In Dane and John, we’ve got two of the best comics in the country supporting him. They’re both excellent and you will see a lot more of them in the coming years.

“We've only got a few tickets left, so we’d urge people to get in quick.”

It comes after more than 400 packed in to the Civic to see Joel Dommett headline the last Live At The Civic back in June.

Other comics to have appeared there since it started two years ago include Joe Lycett, Ross Noble, Mark Watson, Doc Brown, Tom Stade, Seann Walsh, Gary Delaney and Justin Moorhouse.

Tickets for Lee Nelson costing £22 are available at www.bhillcivic.co.uk/whats-on/comedy
