Kinky Boots go for a stroll ahead of Wolverhampton Grand shows
Kinky Boots went for a walk around Wolverhampton ahead of the upcoming show at the Grand Theatre.
Staff from the theatre have been touring the city with the iconic thigh-high red boots, going from the Signal 107 radio studios to Wolverhampton Market and the Mander Centre before making their way back to the Lichfield Street theatre.
In between, they caught the eye of people passing by at other stops including the Express & Star officers, Light House Media Centre and Carvers.
Press and PR Manager at the Grand Theatre, Scott Bird, said: "One of Kinky Boots’ key messages is 'you change the world when you change your mind' and whilst the show has a strong message of LGBT+ acceptance at the heart of it, it is about accepting all people for who they are and Lola the drag queen’s fabulous Boots help the story to do that. We have been out and about in Wolverhampton spreading the message with a pair of the boots worn in the West End show."
The award-winning production, with songs by Grammy and Tony winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, stars former Coronation Street actress Paula Lane who is known for playing Kylie Platt in the soap but will be Lauren in the show.
She will be joined by Staffordshire singer and actress, and former X Factor contestant Niki Evans who finished fourth on the fourth series of the show in 2007.
Other cast members include Callum Francis who will be putting on the boots to play Lola following his award winning and critically acclaimed performances in Australia. Plus West End star Joel Harper-Jackson will play Charlie.
They will be accompanied by Demitri Lampra as Don, Adam Price as George and Helen Ternent as Nicola.
Inspired by true events, it tells the tale of Charlie Price, a young boy struggling to live up to his father's expectation and continue the family business of Price & Son.
With the shoe factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of a fabulous performer in need of some study new stilettos called Lola.
The show is a winner of every major Best Musical award and is being directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell for Legally Blonde and Hairspray, and produced by Daryl Roth and and Hal Luftig and Playful Productions, in association with Cameron Mackintosh.
It has won three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical for Matt Henry who played Lola at the Adelphi Theatre.
It will be performed from October 16 to 27. Evenings will take place from 7.30pm, while Wednesday and Saturday matinees are on at 2.30pm.
