Enville Street Dramatic Society, in Stourbridge, are celebrating the landmark anniversary by putting on a show of Ladies Down Under at Amblecote Holy Trinity Church Hall from April 18 to 21.

It is a sequel to last year's hit performance of Ladies Day which has been nominated for an award by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Midland Area.

They are up for Best Play in Region 8 and will find out the winners at the awards ceremony at Stourbridge Town Hall on April 15.

The play by Amanda Whittington will star the same four actresses with Carey Esthop as Pearl, Jo Foley as Jan, Sandra Harrold as Shelley and Gaynor Whitehouse as Linda.

The show follows on from when the ladies from the Hull fish docks won a fortune at the races in Ladies Day. Now the four of them are celebrating with the trip of a lifetime to the land of Oz.

While Shelley dreams of luxury and glamour, the rest of the gang decide to go native and camp out under the stars at Uluru. But Shelley soon discovers there is more on offer than posh hotels, stunning beaches and sun-kissed surfers and Pearl finds that she has got a mountain of her own to climb.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley will be attending the Thursday performance.

Tickets cost adults £8 and Wednesday evening only concessions cost £6. Wheelchairs must be pre-booked.

To buy tickets visit www.envillestreetdramatic.org.uk/ or email csesthop@blueyonder.co.uk. Alternatively, call Carey on 07941 906069 or Sue on 01384 356600.

Car parking is free at the Stourbridge Health Centre opposite the hall in Vicarage Road and the church car park is reserved for disabled and restricted mobility audience members.

The group are also seeking sponsors or grantees as they are still trying to raise money for new lighting and sound. Anyone interested has been asked to get in touch.
