Emmerdale's Deena Payne to star in Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's Ladies' Day
Emmerdale's Deena Payne will star as Pearl in Wolverhampton Grand Theatre's production of Ladies' Day.
The star is the first cast member who has been announced for the show, produced in association with Wolverhampton Racecourse, taking place at the Lichfield Street venue this July.
Deena is best known for playing Viv Hope in Emmerdale, a role she played for 18 years, making her one of the longest-serving female cast members in the show's history.
Her other TV credits include The Bill, Tales of Sherwood Forest, and Crime Stories. She has also appeared in films such as Valentino and The Music Machine.
Producer and programme manager at the Grand Theatre, Tim Colegate, said: “We are delighted to have somebody of Deena’s talent in the role of Pearl in Ladies’ Day and I’m sure our audiences will love her too.
"Deena is a wonderful actress and will undoubtedly add something special to our second in-house production”.
The comedy show, written by Amanda Whittington, follows the story of four women, who work at a fish factory, on a day trip to the races. As the day unfolds, their six-race bet keeps coming up trumps, and if their luck holds, they could win the jackpot.
Ladies' Day comes to Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre from July 13 to 28.
