Stafford Schools Gotta Sing: More than 200 young people take part in Gatehouse Theatre show - with pictures and video

More than 200 young people took part in an annual concert in Stafford last night.

Pupils from Berkswich CE Primary School, Tillington Manor Primary School and Castlechurch Primary School participated in the annual show at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre.

Music teacher at Castlechurch Primary School, Mrs Cranwell, said: "Castlechurch choir meet every Monday and sings at lots of community events.

"Our children are enthusiastic and are proud to share their love of music with others”.

The Healing Voices Community Choir also performed.

Soloists Karina Edwards, Stephen White and Jasmine Gardner sang at the concert too.

More schools were due to take part, but unfortunately were unable to make it due to the weather, say organisers.

The show had been due to take place for three nights at the town centre theatre, but due to the snow and freezing conditions tonight's performance has been cancelled.

A decision over tomorrow night's show is set to be made this afternoon, says the venue.

Stafford Gatehouse Theatre released the following statement on social media this morning:

"Due to adverse weather conditions, tonight's performance of Gotta Sing at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre will not be going ahead," reads the notice.

"The show will be rescheduled by the organiser of the event and information concerning the new date will be circulated by the organiser via facebook.com/GottaSingGottaDance, and will also be made available through the theatre.

"As you can appreciate, we will be taking a lot of calls at this time.

"Please be advised that all updates, when available, will be posted on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

"A decision as to whether tomorrow evening's performance will be affected will be made later today, following consultation with the organiser.

Tomorrow night's show is sold out.
