Crowds brave the rain for arboretum show
Crowds braved the damp conditions for an evening of open air theatre at Walsall Arboretum.
The 'impressive' performance of children's classic The Secret Garden was showcased in the picturesque grounds on Sunday.
Rainfall didn't stop revellers descending on the park as people turned out in their numbers for the event.
The audience were treated to the story of Mary who – after being orphaned by an outbreak of cholera in India – was placed in the guardianship of her uncle, who lives deep in the Yorkshire moors.
She went on to find a garden which has been locked away and left to grow wild, hears strange cries coming from the garden and is determined to get inside and find out what secrets this guarded and mysterious place holds.
Councillor Chris Jones, portfolio holder for clean and green at Walsall Council said: “The performance was very impressive and the Arboretum team had some great feedback after the show.
“Although there was a little bit of rain, everyone seemed to have come prepared and the show went on uninterrupted.”
