The mural will look out over the skate park near the centre

The colourful mural, which reads "Brighter Burntwood", was painted onto the side of Open House Youth and Community Centre in Burntwood.

The mural was created by young members of the community centre which, thanks to funding by Staffordshire Space, has been able to offer free activities for young people between eight and 17 throughout August.

They were assisted by youth and community workers at the centre and David from Graffiti.com, with the new mural looking out onto Burntwood Skate Park.

Youth workers Liz Bacon and Kerry McCabe Crowley said they wanted to restore a sense of community and champion young local people to work together and empower their community.

Kerry said: "The vision of the mural will hopefully bridge a connection to everyone that uses the skate park and playing field to take pride in their local area.

"They are so proud of all the young people who took part and hope you certainly agree that it looks a lot brighter and enjoy as much as they all have in making. "
