Adam Rouse, from Tamworth, will take part in a BBC production marking the 75th anniversary of Japan’s surrender to the Allied Forces.

The 28-year-old will participate in the VJ Day 75: The Nation’s Tribute programme set to air between 8.30pm and 10pm on BBC One.

He will form part of the Household Division Orchestra, having joined the The Band of the Grenadier Guards, and will play the double bass alongside more than 200 military musicians.

The soldier has also recently been deployed as part of the Covid support force – running mobile testing units for the virus across London.

He said: “I am hugely proud to be involved in the commemoration event to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.

“ It is a real honour paying tribute to those who we remember on this day.”
