Allusondrugs, Redrum, Stafford - review
Friday evening saw the opening of the brand new 150 capacity Redrum Bar in Stafford town centre.
Housed in the former Stafford Pie & Ale House and opened by the former owners of The Cellar Bar on Foregate Street, the concert venue will play host to a variety of live music events over the coming months.
Looking like your parents loft, the no barrier venue will be great in the future for raucous and lively punk shows as well as offering a rock club in a town that has previously failed to do so.
Opening the show were local acts emo punk band Home Schooled and instrumental three piece Umbrellabird.
A shout out has to go to Umbrellabird who provided a stunning opening set that offered something highly unique and engaging for the size of venue.
Headlining the evening were Yorkshire rockers Allusondrugs who came to Stafford after playing high-profile tours with We Are The Ocean, Lonely The Brave and Enter Shikari and catching the attention of Kerrang, BBC Radio One and NME.
Playing a variety of tracks from current releases as well as brand new songs, the band played a high energy and engaging set with lead vocalist Jason Moules taking to the middle of the floor of the brand-new venue.
With the entire band playing as if their lives depended on it, it’s clear that the band are adaptable to play a variety of venues and crowds.
Tracks such as ‘Sunset Yellow’ and ‘I Should Have Gone To Uni’ provided sing along moments that the ever growing Redrum crowd could get involved with.
Certainly a group to look out for on future releases, it’s more than recommended that you catch Allusondrugs at a venue near you in the future.
