Suki Waterhouse praises Taylor Swift for ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’
The singer and actress warmed up her hometown crowd at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night with a selection of her own songs ahead of Swift.
Suki Waterhouse has thanked Taylor Swift for a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” after she opened for the pop superstar’s Eras Tour in London over the weekend.
The 32-year-old singer and actress warmed up her hometown crowd at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night with a selection of her own songs ahead of Paramore and Swift taking to the stage.
Waterhouse posted a photo to Instagram of her hugging Swift during the special night, saying her “nervous system will never be the same” after opening for her “favourite artist”.
The post also featured photos of Waterhouse performing on stage in a peach ruffled maxi dress with her name emblazoned on the big screen in pink calligraphy.
In another clip, Swift can be heard telling the crowd during her concert: “Someone I call a friend, I’ve been such a fan of her music for so long.
“She absolutely crushed it here tonight and this was her hometown show – give it up for Suki Waterhouse.”
Hammersmith-born Waterhouse also posted a video of her dancing in the crowd while watching Swift perform her hit Karma.
Alongside it she wrote: “The last time I was at Wembley I was dancing my ass off at the Reputation tour! Never did I think the next time I’d be here would be opening for my favourite artist with my friends and family in the crowd.
“Thank you @taylorswift for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in my beloved London and for the unwavering support in my own journey as an artist.
“You are the world’s biggest and brightest star, I love you so much.
“My nervous system will never be the same after last night. Someone go tell this girl on the last slide she just opened for ERAS BABY!!!”
The Daisy Jones & The Six star also praised fashion house Chloe and its creative director, Chemena Kamali, for making the “dress of my dreams”.
Waterhouse recently gave birth to her first child with her partner, actor Robert Pattinson.
The singer released her first album, I Can’t Let Go, in 2022 and her follow-up, Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin, is due out next month.
Swift is nearing the end of her London dates, having performed last Thursday to Saturday, with her final shows in the capital set for Monday and Tuesday night after also playing three dates at Wembley in June.
Singer-songwriter Sofia Isella supported Swift on Thursday, while Holly Humberstone performed on Friday.
Maisie Peters is set to warm up the crowd on Monday night, while Brit-award winner Raye will perform on Tuesday.
Swift’s billion-dollar Eras Tour takes fans through her back catalogue, including hits from albums 1989, Red and Midnights.
