Councillor: I'd be happy to show Beverley Knight Wolverhampton's sights after singer laments state of city
Hometown girl Beverley Knight's laments about the state of Wolverhampton city centre have prompted an invitation from a councillor to see the city's sights and new businesses.
Singer, songwriter and reality TV star Beverley told BBC Radio WM she was "immensely annoyed" at her hometown's fall from grace.
The self-confessed shopaholic also lamented the loss of department store Beatties.
However one Wolverhampton councillor says he believes the return of the Civic Halls to the city will be the catalyst for a new leisure and night time destination which would be right up Beverley's pedestrianised street.
And with Victoria Street pedestrianised and a new boxpark entertainment centre on the way, Councillor Chris Burden certainly doesn't believe planning chiefs will have a case of 'Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda' when they see the finished article.
Fallings Park Councillor Chris Burden is one of the youngest cabinet members in the council's history and believes Beverley is looking in the wrong places for fun.
Now living in London, one of the world's greatest capital cities, Beverley has a huge choice of leisure activities but wanted to stress the old smoke is not where she feels at home - only Wolverhampton can give her those familiar feelings, accents and memories which all make up that unmistakable feeling of home.
