Jason Donovan says he would return to Neighbours if Kylie does too
The singer found fame on the soap in the 80s.
Jason Donovan has suggested he would return to Neighbours for a guest appearance if Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce agreed to join him.
The trio found fame on the hit Australian soap in the 80s, with Donovan and Minogue as popular couple Scott and Charlene and Pearce as their friend Mike.
The soap celebrates its 35th anniversary next year and asked by Radio Times magazine if he would make a guest appearance, Donovan said: “It doesn’t feel like something I need to do.
“I have absolute respect for the show and what it’s given me, but the problem with going back would be that the publicity becomes bigger than the moment.”
However, he went on: “If Guy [Pearce], Kylie [Minogue] and me agreed we’d all do three episodes, that’d be different because we’d be sharing it.”
The star said it was a similar situation with US series Friends.
“If all of them come back, then it works,” he said. “If it’s just Joey, it doesn’t.”
Donovan’s daughter Jemma has joined Neighbours as Harlow Robinson.
The singer said: “I am planning to go out to see her. I feel like I’d like to see the neighbourhood.
“It’s a similar feeling to wanting to go back to your old school. But just for a visit.”
