Alex Scott has said she feels like she “won the golden ticket” just for getting on Strictly.

The former footballer and her professional dance partner Neil Jones were given their marching orders during Sunday night’s results show.

But Scott said she just feels lucky to have been on the BBC programme in the first place.

Speaking on spin-off It Takes Two, she said: “I actually feel like Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

“I feel like I’m Charlie, I won the golden ticket. I was on Strictly.”

The star told host Rylan Clark-Neal that former contestant Michelle Visage took her out to dinner to cheer her up after the results show, but she did not know what to do with herself when she woke up on Monday.

“Today was strange,” Scott said. “You get into a routine of going into training.

“When you go to a World Cup you are in a bubble, you are used to that routine of going to training, in the hotel, playing matches… and that was the same feeling I woke up with today.

“I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was like, ‘Oh what shall I have for breakfast? I’ll clean the house then’.”

The star said she could not believe she had made it to the quarter-finals.

“I can’t sit here and be sad because for me to even think that I would make it this far… I didn’t think that in week one,” she said.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One.
