Catwalk queen Campbell shared the image with her social media followers and said it was “divine”.

“This is an iconic day one we must all remember a day of CHANGE IN MOST POSITIVE WAY !!!” she said, adding that Aboah “should be so proud”.

“What a timeless, radiant cover my beautiful, incredible @adwoaaboah !!! Stunning and smart !!” she said.

“Congratulations to the genius @edward_enninful on a new era of @britishvogue what an energizing&inspiring start!!!! I can’t stop staring! Completely in LOVE!”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan even weighed in, writing on Instagram that Enninful was “showing Britain at its diverse and creative best”.

The edition will see the new editor-in-chief and Aboah discuss the importance of diversity in fashion as they share their definitions of being black and British in 2017.

It will also include shots by photographer Steven Meisel, marking his first cover and editorial story for a British magazine in 25 years.

Enninful appointed British Fashion Council ambassador Aboah as a contributing editor for the magazine in July, alongside an intimate team including make-up artist Pat McGrath, Steve McQueen, supermodels Kate Moss and Campbell, and American Vogue creative director Grace Coddington.

Aboah is also known for her partnership with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this year to raise awareness surrounding mental health issues, as well as creating digital women’s empowerment platform, Gurls Talk.
