Comedian Jasper Carrott is in hospital recovering from an operation ahead of a heart bypass, a spokesman for the star has said.

The TV personality recently postponed a string of shows to allow him time to recover from the surgery.

He added: “He will not be undertaking any professional commitments for the remainder of the year.

“All his shows for 2017 have, wherever possible, been rescheduled for 2018.”

Carrott announced he needed the surgery in a Facebook post in July when he wrote: “Sadly, I have been told very recently that I need a heart bypass operation.

“I was hoping that the operation would take place in August allowing me to fulfil my shows this month but unfortunately it must now be done immediately.

“There will then follow a three-month recovery period after which I anticipate being able to return to work as normal.

“Unfortunately this affects a number of shows which unavoidably must be postponed until at least early spring next year.
