Katherine Jenkins’ debut as Songs of Praise presenter tempts new viewers
The singer wowed the watching public with her “natural” presenting style.
Katherine Jenkins received high praise from viewers as she presented Songs of Praise for the first time.
The Welsh mezzo-soprano, who is joining hosts Aled Jones and Pamela Rhodes on the long-running BBC One programme, was seen visiting Hastings for her first stint as a lead presenter.
Jenkins, 37, explored the Sussex seaside town to listen to stories of faith and learn about William the Conqueror’s impact on the area.
Fans of the programme were full of adoration for Jenkins’ presenting while new viewers switched on just to see her at the helm.
One unsuspecting Songs of Praise fan wrote on Twitter: “@KathJenkins never usually watch Songs of Praise but tuned in especially today. You were lovely and not to far from me in West Sussex.”
Another said: “@KathJenkins You were such a natural presenter Katherine, wonderful! Loved you performing ‘Jerusalem’, just BEAUTIFUL.”
“You’re a natural Katherine, I never usually watch SOP, but I made an exception today. And looking lovely as always,” another added.
The praise continued as one tweeter, who admitted they were not an “avid Songs of Praise watcher”, said they were now “hooked” thanks to Jenkins’ role as presenter.
“NEVER watch #SongsofPraise not being religious, however @KathJenkins is now a presenter & she’s AMAZING, I’m a convert, can’t wait 2C her soon,” one new fan enthused.
Others agreed that she was “amazing” as presenter, with one viewer writing: “How much of a fantastic year is @KathJenkins having?! Is there anything this lady can’t do?!”
