DJ Fatboy Slim has said his music is providing “escapism” during a “traumatic year”.
The star, 53, and presenter Zoe Ball, 46, separated after 17 years of marriage in September.
Ball was later devastated when her boyfriend, TV cameraman Billy Yates, died, at the age of 40.
“Because my life was really happy, I was providing that escapism for the crowds. And now they’re providing that escapism for me.
“Having hit a traumatic year, for those two hours when I’m on stage I forget all my worries and I feel like I can escape.”
The DJ, who has two children, Woody, 16, and Nelly, seven, with Ball, added: “A lot of the creative periods in people’s life are during times of turmoil and heartache.”
