Ivor Novello nominee Dyo glad she once failed X Factor audition

An Ivor Novello award-nominated singer has said she is relieved she once failed an X Factor audition she attended alongside friend Stacey Solomon.
Dyo, 25, is up for the prestigious best contemporary song award for writing and singing on Sexual alongside Neiked.
After being announced as a contender on Wednesday, Londoner Dyo said she auditioned for the competition alongside college friend Stacey in 2009, the year she came third.
Dyo said: “Years ago I went with my friend Stacey Solomon, we went and did X Factor.
“But now I’m so glad I was patient and waited for the right time because now everything has worked out in a way I couldn’t have imagined.
“I feel like I have got a bit more freedom to do as I want – so no competitions for me.”
Stacey, 27, congratulated the Londoner on Twitter after Sexual’s success, calling it “the best song I’ve ever heard”.
Dyo is up for the award, which will be announced on May 18, alongside former collaborator Skepta but insisted there is no rivalry.
“It’s all love,” she said. “Whoever wins, I’m happy for them.”
