Bake Off's Prue Leith makes a style statement as she takes over from Mary Berry
This show is as much about the clothes as it is about the cakes.
Prue Leith wore a canary yellow blazer for her first official photograph as a Great British Bake Off judge.
Prue, 77, is pictured alongside the Channel 4 show’s new presenting duo, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, as well as fellow judge Paul Hollywood.
In the image, which sees the new Bake Off line-up standing behind a table of cakes and pork pies, the former Great British Menu judge completed her look with a plain white t-shirt and a matching yellow necklace.
Giving Prue a run for her money was comedian Noel, who donned a quirky strawberry-printed blue jumper, a stand-out piece next to Sandi’s heart-printed blouse and Paul’s plain black shirt.
The Bake Off has long been synonymous with style, as Prue’s predecessor Mary Berry was known for her statement jackets, and she famously wore a bright pink blazer for some of the programme’s official photography.
Over the years, the 82-year-old unlikely style trendsetter had inspired viewers with her colourful fashion choices and often caused items to sell out in the space of hours, including a French Connection biker jacket and a floral bomber from Zara.
In a 2014 interview, Mary admitted that she started to make more of an effort because people were picking up on her on-screen ensembles.
She told the Radio Times: “At home, I don’t really think about what I wear. Now people really notice, and you make more effort.
“Although I dress for my age… I can’t wear short sleeves… because of… what do you call it? Bat wings? (bingo wings).”
Mary, and former presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, quit the Bake Off when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4.
