The MOBO Paving The Way award, which aims to celebrate musical trailblazers and influential people, was presented to Sir Lenny during a ceremony last month.

Sir Lenny chose for his paving stone to be laid at Buffery Park, which is near the house where he grew up.

A ceremony was taking place this afternoon to mark the occasion with the 57-year-old back in town as guest of honour.

In his speech when he accepted the accolade at the MOBO Awards he thanked everyone from Bob Marley to Chris Tarrant.

Speaking about the award, he said: "It's an honour to say you've paved the way for people because my career isn't over.

"I don't feel like anything's finished yet. It's a huge honour. I'm very, very happy. It's wonderful."

It is the latest honour for the stand up comic and actor who received his knighthood last Friday for services to drama and charity.

He also dedicated the honour to anyone who had been involved with the charity in its 30 years.
