Thankfully I had no visa problems this time in Shanghai – it's amazing how easy travel can be when you have the correct documents, writes DJ Stuart Ojelay.

It was a fantastic experience. And again I feel so privileged to have been able to immerse myself in such diverse a culture.

It's great that despite how long I've been DJing, I still get excited about forthcoming gigs.

This can most definitely be said as I head to India next week where I'll be doing four gigs in four cities in five days – anyone who knows me will know I have many reasons to be excited about this one!

Pay Day weekend is bringing a whole host of great events to us locally so here's the pick of the bunch.

Digbeth Dining Club is a brand new concept bringing together fine culinary delights with cutting edge music.

Taking place at Spotlight, Digbeth, it's the perfect jaunt for after work or indulging late into the evening. Jukes of Hazard will supply a laidback selection of disco and funk.

Elevate is at 7s Nightclub in Burntwood and features DJs Mr Pickle supported by a live saxophone. Complete with a boosted sound system it's looking lively if you're local!

Glamourising Friday nights in the second city is Socialite at Nine Bar in Brindley place.

For this end of the month special they've drafted in big beat supremo Micky Slim and he'll be supported by DJs Rossco, James Hardy and Pete Graham.

EBL continue to bring in the big players of UK Garage and they come no bigger in the scene than DJ EZ. Plus this time around they've teamed up with Mudclub to bring you a monster package!

It's an invite only event taking hosted at the Rainbow Warehouse and Garden in Digbeth with DJs Alex Parkin, Will Bailey, Rue Jay and Dr Love.

It's What We Do have always been purveyors of fine house music events for some time now and they've delivered once more tonight!

They bring in the delectable Sam Divine from Defected Records and Ushuaia fame to headline.

If you're in the Coventry area then head to Seven nightclub as you won't be disappointed. Other DJs include Andy Turner, Jamie Ward and Grant Gordon.

On to to Saturday's antics! Hat-Club have earned themselves a fine reputation for fun loving parties in the south coast and now they try their hand in the Midlands.

Revolution in Walsall is where they'll bring their mix of upfront, funky and vocal house. DJs include Damian Stone, Paton and the Brain.

It's always great to see charities and Clubland unite and this is in order as We Become One lands at Gatecrasher in Birmingham.

In aid of Macmillan Cancer Research some of the Midlands' finest DJs will unite for this great cause. They include Beck3 Beck, WdpProject, Davey Boy and Rodknee.

Seasons as the name may suggest only takes place four times a year and naturally this time around is their Autumnal installment.

Firing out anything from house to old skool across the terrace, bar and club of the Prince Albert Wolverhampton will be Hannah Wants, Edd Cooke and Pornogroove.

Perhaps the biggest event this weekend is on a Sunday!

TRMNL Terrace Sessions in Birmingham are becoming of legendary status with them booking in the finest names in the world of underground and quality electronic dance music.

Soul Clap headline this time around and it all kicks of at 2pm so be sure to head down early to catch the bulk of the action! DJs in support include the fantastic Jakkin Rabbit.
