Rob Cook has raised thousands through his charity DJ live streams

Rob Cook, aged 41, from Coven, previously worked in events and exhibitions and DJed part-time.

However, due to the pandemic, he has lost his regular work.

He started live streaming in a private Facebook group with family and friends, which has now grown to more than 300 people.

Rob said: “We are getting each other through it and helping each other.

“We managed to hold one outdoor party at the end of August when restrictions lifted and raised £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK, which is a cause close to my heart as my dad has Parkinson’s.

“On New Year’s Eve, I hosted another live Zoom gig and raised £2,150 for Compton Care.

“Within our little community on Facebook it has just gone up and up and up, I’ve even had hoodies printed which all of the kids are wearing, it’s surreal.”

Depending on restrictions, Rob hopes to be able to host another charity event during Easter, even if it is held online.

Rob added: “Even though I love doing the live streams, the sooner it finishes and sooner we can get out the better.

“I have been DJing for 21 years and am completely self-taught, I have DJed all around the UK in the past and would love to do it as a full time job, it’s every DJ’s dream.

“A massive thank you has to go to all the wonderful people, especially the young kids who have embraced it.

“It has given other people something to look forward to, but also something for me to look forward to as well.

“I’d love for more people to join the party, it’s completely free and we can get through this together.”
