The West Park event - set to take place on August 8 and 9 - will no longer go ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from organisers said this was not an announcement they ever wanted to make, but 'these are strange times we are living in'.

"After much consideration and taking on-board all of the available information in relation to the global Covid-19 pandemic, such as likely timescales on restrictions being lifted on mass gatherings, we have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s WV1 Fest," they said.

The festival is offering a 33 per cent refund on booking fees for general admission tickets.

VIP Tickets will be refunded in full.

The statement continued: "We know booking fees are not generally refunded however we also know these are unprecedented times so wanted to do what we could to support you.

"We know a number of you will of accessed tickets via one of our partner Walk-In ticket outlets, most of which are currently closed due to the government lock-down.

"Once restrictions are lifted and these outlets re-open, they will be able to offer the 33 per cent refund on general admission tickets.

"Your safety and that of everyone involved in putting on festivals like ours has to be our main priority alongside protecting the NHS, supporting key workers and saving lives.

"As a small independent festival team, we are determined to weather this storm and you will see us in 2021.

"In fact, if conditions allow we will do everything in our power to bring you our festival family together this year, so stay tuned but most of all stay safe."

The festival was set to see performances from acts covering music icons such as Slipknot, Queen, Guns 'n' Roses, AC/DC, Muse, Linkin Park and more.
