'We knew you were waiting for us': Beverley Knight and Gary Barlow release online duet
Wolverhampton's own soul superstar Beverley Knight delighted fans last night with a virtual duet alongside Take That pop icon Gary Barlow.
Swapping arena stages for casual clothes and the comfort of their own homes, 47-year-old singer/songwriter Knight posted a clip on her Instagram featuring herself and Barlow during a video call dueting hit song I Knew You Were Waiting by Aretha Franklin and George Michael.
The video, created as part of The Crooner Sessions hosted by Barlow on his Instagram page, has since had tens of thousands of views.
"It had to happen, and here it is," Knight posted.
"Gary Barlow and I just wanted to bring you some fun, love, light and music to the country. God knows we need it.
"Paying tribute to two legends. We knew you were waiting for us."
Forty nine-year-old Barlow thanked Beverley for 'sharing such an amazing voice with us'.
It comes after the starlet posted a heartfelt message earlier this week thanking NHS staff for their hard work during the coronavirus outbreak.
She gave a special shout out to the city's New Cross Hospital, which treated her mother who was rushed there with symptoms.
She lauded all health staff as "heroes" and acknowledged these people are "literally putting their lives on the line" to help the general public.
