The four-piece - who also use four guest musicians to expand their sound - will perform at the town's Redrum on Crabbery Street on February 2 as part of The First Tour to promote their debut album together I'm Separate, which is released on January 21 containing 11 tracks.

The main body of the band is made up of Zach Quinn of PEARS on guitar, bass and vocals; Brian Wahlstrom from Scorpios and Gods Of Mount Of Olympus on keys and vocals; Paul Rucker of Armchair Martian, Street Dogs and Drag The River providing drums, and The Gamits' Chris Fogal also on guitar.

Of the guests, saxophone comes from Joe Cardillo, cello from Lief Sjostrom, Olivia Shaw plays violin and Sandi King offers guest vocals.

Quinn made his name fronting critically-acclaimed New Orleans-based hardcore punk band PEARS. Wahlstrom is a classically trained opera singer and pianist whose touring and recording career is rooted firmly in punk-rock and has included frequent collaborations with Joey Cape of Lagwagon.

Quinn and Wahlstrom connected on a tour produced by Cape’s label One Week Records, which brings artists into a high energy, week long write-arrange-record process that culminates in a completed album and follow-up tour. And so, Bandaid Brigade was born.

A spokesperson for the band said: "Recorded at Black in Bluhm Studios in Denver, Colorado, and co-produced with Fogal, the album finds the members stretching beyond their collective punk roots with ambitious songwriting, polished arrangements, and a throwback sound that draws some detectable influences from early progressive rock, a heady mix of Springsteen's attitude, Elton John’s artistic balladry, and classic pop-rock disco grooves echoing ABBA and Earth Wind & Fire."

The colourful album artwork is provided by Paul Smith.

Bandaid Brigade added: "It's quite possible that this is the best album ever made. We hope you like it as much as we think you think we think we do."

They are currently touring the West Coast of America on the first leg of their tour, while the UK leg starts on January 29 in Surrey and ends in Canterbury on February 5 before they head across the Channel to France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

For tickets to the Redrum show, priced at £5.50, head to the SeeTickets website and search for the venue.
