Stay Loose Records on Farmers Fold in Wolverhampton city centre is hosting an open decks afternoon to encourage people to visit the store and try their hands behind the DJ decks.

The event is taking place on Saturday February 2 from 11am - 4pm and is looking for vinyl junkies, aspiring DJs and people with a love of music to join in.

Manager of the store, Ian Davies, is hoping the event will be a good way to kick off their year, with it approaching one year since he opened the store, back in April last year.

The 41-year-old said: "We're gearing up for our one year anniversary and it's a way to raise awareness of the shop.

"I feel like it's a thank you to our customers and to give people a chance to have a DJ session.

"Everyone is welcome, it's up to them what they play, they can play whatever they want, all genres and all abilities are welcome, from someone with experience to a wannabe DJ.

"People can express themselves and have a good time.

"It's also a nice way to give back to the community and being a local store it's important to have that connection between people and local businesses.

"The only two rules we have is vinyl only and no scratching.

"Vinyl has made a big comeback and I think it's the physical aspect of them, the process of putting one on, the artwork, putting it on the decks, it has warmth, feeling and soul.

"Albums nowadays are made up of five or six singles, they're not put together as an album."
