Drake fans' anger over £140 standing tickets for Birmingham shows

The Canadian rapper's tour comes to Birmingham for three dates later this year, and fans will need some serious Hotline Bling to nab tickets when they go on sale this Friday.

Standing tickets at the Resorts World Arena for March shows will set fans back £139.45, according to prices listed on ticketing website See Tickets.

Seats were available on the site from £53.05, with prices rising to £174 for the best views.

Fans have taken to Twitter to air their fury over the ticket costs, with one user saying: "The last time Drake did the O2, the tickets were £100 English pounds.

"For that price I better be doing soundcheck and backing vocals."

Another posted: “Rather sit in my room and get some disco lights and listen to Drake on Apple Music than pay that.

“For £140 I'm expecting a back massage off Drake himself.”

Others, however, have said they will pay the high prices to see the 32-year-old musician.

One music fan tweeted: "If you think I’m going to pay £140 for a Drake ticket, you’re absolutely right."

Aubrey Drake Graham, better known by his stage name Drake, first gained recognition as an actor on teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Drake released his debut studio album Thank Me Later in 2010, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and was soon certified platinum.

He has since released a further four studio albums. He is best known for a series of hits including Started From The Bottom, Passionfruit, Hotline Bling, God's Plan, In My Feelings and more.

Drake holds several Billboard chart records. He has the most charted songs among solo artists in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, the most simultaneously charted Hot 100 songs in a single week, the most time on the Hot 100 and the most Hot 100 debuts in a week.

Drake will play Birmingham's Resorts World Arena from March 26 to 28.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am.
