Download Festival crowned Best Major Festival at UK Festival Awards
Download Festival has been crowned Best Major Festival at an awards ceremony last night.
The accolade was given to the Donnington Park event at the UK Festival Awards hosted at the Troxy in London.
The five-day event was up against the likes of Boardmasters, Isle of Wight Festival, Latitude, Parklife and TRNSMT Festival.
Download was also nominated under the Best Hospitality category, but lost out to Festival No.6.
Since its inception in 2004, the UK Festival Awards has been dedicated to recognising and celebrating the collective accomplishments of the nation’s most beloved industry.
Across its 21 categories, the Awards acknowledges the achievements of organisers and suppliers in the fields of programming, production, innovation, emerging talent, marketing, hospitality, catering and more.
The event was hosted by rapper, actor and comedian Doc Brown, and boasted an extended drink reception, street food, and an after party with Howling Rhythm DJs.
The win comes ahead of next year's Download Festival, which will see the likes of Tool, Slipknot, Def Leppard, Smashing Pumpkins, Rob Zombie and more perform.
Download Festival will take place at Donnington Park from June 14 to 16.
