Tens of thousands of tickets to see Rod Stewart live at Wolverhampton's Molineux Stadium were snapped up on their first day of sale, with promoters Cuffe and Taylor saying the demand for tickets has been massive since they went on sale last week.

Because of this, an extra date has already been added to the tour which will now see it kick off in Bristol.

Director Peter Taylor said: “The demand for Rod Stewart Live In Concert has been phenomenal.

"We have worked with Rod on numerous occasions on single shows and full tours and it is safe to say this is the most incredible on sale we have ever experienced.

“We are excited to be bringing Rod to what is a new venue for us as gig promoters and look forward to welcoming his fans to Wolverhampton in June.

"This will be a fantastic concert and I would urge anyone who is still thinking about their purchase to act quickly so they can be sure of seeing this show.

“Rod hasn’t performed in the city since the 1960s so I am sure he will receive a very warm welcome from his fans both old and new.”

25,000 tickets that went on sale for the Wolverhampton event, with a front row seat costing £125.

It is the first big concert to be staged at the stadium in 15 years, since Bon Jovi in 2003 when 34,000 people packed out the Wolves ground.

Thousands will turn out for the show on June 8 as the rock legend – now aged 73 – performs as part of his Blood Red Roses tour.

Rod’s concert will be an all-seater event with just three of the four stands open and temporary seating on the pitch.

Fans can expect to hear classics like Maggie May, The First Cut is the Deepest and Hot Legs as well as material from the new album.

It’s being staged three weeks after Wolves’ Premier League season finishes.

Wolves season ticket holders were able to buy tickets a day earlier than the general public.

Meanwhile, anyone who pre-ordered Rod’s new album via HMV could also get their tickets two days before the official sale date.

Rod Stewart comes to the Molineux on June 8.
