Enjoy Wolverhampton Live 2018: Matt Cardle, Ocean Colour Scene's Andy Bennett and more to play free city centre event

Matt Cardle and Ocean Colour Scene singer Andy Bennett will play a free city centre show in Wolverhampton this weekend.

The stars will be joined at the Enjoy Wolverhampton Live event - coming to Queen Square - by fellow music acts Owen Paul and Sweet Female Attitude featuring Leanne.

There will also be free family fun during the day - between midday and 3pm - with performances from CBeebies star Katy Ashworth, puppet shows from the winner of TV's The Slammer - Russ Brown, entertainment from Doctor Doolally and free facepainting.

The live music, meanwhile, will run from 6pm till 10pm.

This annual one-day festival, taking place on June 2, will be the third event of its kind.

Headliner Matt Cardle is best known for winning the seventh series of The X Factor and having hits with songs such as When We Collide and Run For Your Life.

Andy Bennett, famed for his time with Ocean Colour Scene, released his solo debut single Hole in the Road in October 2015, followed in May 2016 by single Drift Away.

Owen Paul, meanwhile, is the singer of 1986 UK and European summer hit My Favourite Waste Of Time and is set to perform a range of 80s hits.

Finally, Brit Award nominee Sweet Female Attitude featuring Leanne Brown is best known for 2001 garage hit Flowers.

Food and drink stalls will be at the event.

Those attending have been advised that bag searches will be in operation inside the festival area, as well as at the entry and exit points.
