Five Star Swing to play Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre
Five Star Swing is coming to Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre as part of a national tour.
The group has appeared on TV shows such as BBC'S Children in Need and Dame Vera Lynn's Charity Ball.
BBC Radio Big Band and former-Herb Miller Big Band leader Chris Smith Jr fronts the group which plays classic songs by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller and many more.
Talking about the show, double bass player Ben Markland said the band is excited to bring their tour to the area.
“Fans have enjoyed this 'feel-good' style of music for generations," he said.
"Following our extensive UK tour I’m excited to be bringing the sound of our big band brass, saxes, rhythm and vocalists back home.”
The band includes the likes of Tony Bennett's trombonist Mike Innes, as well as vocalist and saxophonist Simone, who was taught to play the alto instrument by famous band leader Ivy Benson.
Simone has recorded with Paul Weller, and has appeared on the Paul Merton TV Show and the Russell Harty Show.
Five Star Swing will play Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre on April 22.
