The Wonder Stuff frontman jetted out to Brooklin to ensure Patricia Guest had a night to remember.

Her husband, Kevin Guest, a lifelong music aficionado, managed to entice Hunt, to the private party at the Brooklin Pub to play an hour-long set last Friday.

Recalling how much she enjoyed seeing him in the past, and having had some prior contact with Hunt, Mr Guest reached out through Facebook and inquired about the chances of him taking part in the birthday surprise.

He offered to cover the cost of a return flight from London, England and a four-night stay in Toronto.

Hesitant at first, Hunt ended up accepting, in part as a research mission for a fiction novel he’s currently writing that features Toronto.

Hunt performed for a crowd of about 50 upstairs at the Brooklin Pub on Baldwin Street — much to the surprise and delight of Mrs Guest, a local realtor who turned 50 on Tuesday.

The couple had seen The Wonder Stuff at the RPM club in Toronto in 1994 and also saw Hunt perform solo in Michigan in 2007.

The Wonder Stuff’s most recent release was 2016’s 30 Goes Around The Sun, named to mark the 30 years since formation. The band’s biggest hit, The Size of A Cow, reached No. 5 on U.K. charts in 1991.

It comes after the band teamed up with Ned’s Atomic and a brewery to launch a limited edition ale.

Ned’s Wonder was created with Birmingham’s Froth Blowers Brewing Company for this year’s Love From Stourbridge tour.

The Love From Stourbridge tour featuring The Wonder Stuff and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin takes place in April.

The bands will also be joined by DJ Graham Crabb from Pop Will Eat Itself, another Stourbridge band.

There are two dates at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on April 14 and 15, and the first has already sold out.
