Mr Jukes coming to Birmingham
Following the release of his debut album God First on July 14, Mr Jukes comes to Birmingham’s O2 Institute on September 25.
Mr Jukes is the solo project from Jack Steadman of Bombay Bicycle Club, with his debut album being released on Island Records. Speaking on the making of the album ‘I loved the challenge of writing songs for Bombay Bicycle Club but as a naturally restless person, after the last album my mind wandered to ideas I couldn’t imagine doing with the band. On Mr Jukes I have the freedom to go right to the end of any idea I might have so if I want to use, say, a Grant Green sample and have Charles Bradley singing over it, I can do that. It’s been very exciting.’
In his short solo career tracks ‘Angels/Your Love’ and ‘Grant Green’ have been Mistajam’s Hottest Records in the World on BBC Radio One as well as going top five on Spotify’s Viral Chart and being playlisted by BBC 6Music. Jack’s debut headline show at London’s Village Underground on July 11th sold out in under 24 hours.
Mr Jukes play Birmingham’s O2 Institute on September 25 with tickets priced at £12.
