Mayor's festival set to rock Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton's mayor donned his sunglasses and a guitar as preparations continue ahead of the city's second Rock Fest.

Councillor Barry Findlay was joined by Mayoress, Margaret Findlay, as they prepare to rock out in aid of charity.

The Wolves Mayor Rock Fest was set up by Councillor Ian Brookfield and Facebook fan group Rockers Through the Age.

Last year money was raised for a handful of local charities and this year it will be the mayor's chosen charities that benefit.

They are Samaritans of Wolverhampton, The MS Therapy Centre, and Wolverhampton Help for Heroes.

The Mayor, said: "It’s great to see the Rock Fest back and I am happy that Councillor Brookfield has organised it again for three great charities to benefit.

"We're looking forward to showing off the fantastic musical talent we have here in City of Wolverhampton.

"I'd like to thank everyone who is taking part - we have a cast of more than 100 and they are all giving their time for free."

The Wolves Mayor Rock Fest will take place at The Slade Rooms on Saturday.

It will showcase some of the best upcoming rock talent in the City of Wolverhampton.

Bands that will be appearing include The Bad Flowers, Shyyne, Electus, Iconic Eye, The New Saints and Voodoo Sioux.

Tickets are priced £7.32 (£6.50 ticket + £0.82 booking fee) and are available from Midland Box Office on 0870 320 7000.
