One Direction star Liam Payne pops in to Wolverhampton Pizza Hut

It is not often a global superstar pops into your local Pizza Hut for a quick bite. And customers in Wolverhampton could not believe their eyes when One Direction star Liam Payne made a surprise appearance – shortly after going to the nearby cinema.

The X Factor boy band singer from Bushbury was back on home turf when he was spotted at Cineworld and Pizza Hut in Bentley Bridge.

But unlike some of his bandmates, there was no entourage and burly security guards for the down-to-earth local lad who was happy to pose with staff and fans for snapshots.

Liam, who is an ex-student at St Peter's Collegiate, was reportedly at the movies with his girlfriend to see Despicable Me 2.

Staff at Cineworld posted pictures on to Twitter and were the envy of all their friends.

Steph Griffiths who works at the cinema posted on the micro blogging site: 'Can't believe I met Liam Payne tonight out of 1d!!! Had a photo and everything!', before adding 'perks of the job'.

The 1D fan also posted a picture of the star's signature and wrote: 'Liam Payne used my pen'.

Pizza Hut Restaurant bench manager Dominic McAndrew said: "With Harry Styles at the Glasgow Hut earlier this year, it seems the One Direction boys can't get enough of Pizza Hut Restaurants. Liam was really friendly to the team and diners."

Despite his worldwide fame Liam regularly returns to the Black Country. Last month he showed up in the audience at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton to watch a performance of Ghost: The Musical.

He was also mobbed by fans outside Nandos, in Queen Street.

The star came home for a family Christmas in Wolverhampton in December enjoying his dinner at the Penn Tandoori.
