She is a radio presenter, writer, gig promoter and the woman from Emma Scott Presents, which helps unsigned bands get onto the stage and performing in front of music fans.

Her hard work and dedication to budding musicians has seen her win two big awards in 2012 for Best Promoter.

She said: "It certainly makes the hard work worth it and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everyone's support with the gigs."

Over the past 12 months Emma has worked with a number of unsigned bands from around the region including Wolverhampton band The Whiskey Syndicate.

The four-piece plays stripped down, no nonsense rock and roll and has been making music since it formed in 2003.

The group has toured the USA and recently released a debut full-length album.

Emma said: "Emma Scott Presents has had the pleasure of working with some excellent bands from the Midlands, who we really believe in. We had an absolute blast with The Whiskey Syndicate at their album launch last April at The Slade Rooms – I was beaming with pride as I took to the stage with my eight-year-old daughter on my shoulders to acknowledge what a great performance it was.

"I was blown away."

She also has other great memories of musical events in 2012.

"It was great to see My Great Affliction reform," she said. "And while we're on the subject, welcome back Martyr de Mona after their small break and change of line up. They are currently recording their new album and I think it's going to be a beast. Look out for them later in the year. Definitely ones to watch.

Blak Can will headline The Slade Rooms later this month

"Blak Can have had a great year and I wish them well for 2013. We're really loving Luke Wylde and the Japes, from Wolverhampton at the moment.

"I'm looking forward to seeing them at one of my gigs at the end of January."

The next Emma Scott Presents gig will be held in Wolverhampton's Slade Rooms on January 19 at 7pm. Headlining will be Blak Can, a four-piece group from Wolverhampton, who describe their music as "electronic, guitar based pop – with real heart".

Other groups listed for the night include Duchamp Pilot, Arrows, 5 Days of November and Jamie Clayton. Tickets cost £6 in advance.

Emma said: "From all at Emma Scott Presents thanks to the bands for playing – and to everyone that buys a ticket to see them.

"Have a very happy 2013."
