And thousands turned out to see the star on her first solo nationwide arena tour.

Her latest venture has seen her embark on her A Million Lights tour and fans were out in force to see the star as she stopped off at Birmingham's LG Arena last night.

It all looked so promising when she rose up from a futuristic pyramid to open the show with Sexy Den A Mutha in a sparkly gold catsuit.

Yet, it all-too-soon became apparent that there was too much strobe lighting and a lack of personality in her performance. She did, however, look stunning in her array of costumes and the crowd got excited as she emerged to sing Girls Aloud tunes, including The Promise and Love Machine.

The audience were encouraged to sing along as she sang Under The Sun and held her microphone out, afterwards telling them: "Your energy is incredible Birmingham".

And after telling the audience she wanted to share the moment with "a good friend of mine", a huge virtual Will.i.am popped up for a duet of 3 Words – one of the better performances.

Her fans chanted and banged their feet on the ground to get her to come back for encores Fight for this Love and Call My Name.
