She had to cancel her Wolverhampton show in December after losing her voice but folk singer Kate Rusby is back to full health and ready to take the city by storm.
The 38-year-old is performing on Thursday, Febriary 23, 2012, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. And as December's show was packed full of Christmas music, singer/songwriter Kate reveals to the Express & Star that she had to go back to the drawing board for her rescheduled gig.
"I didn't think anyone would want to revisit Christmas in February so I will be singing a selection of songs from my last non-Christmas album Make the Light and of course some old favourites from my back catalogue," she says. "Something to please everyone I think."
She added: "There won't be a brass band this time as they only accompany the Christmas show but I will be bringing my marvellously talented band so we will have a great deal of fun."
Kate, who hails from Penistone in South Yorkshire, had to pull the plug on her city date after losing her voice as a result of a "bad cold".
She will be taking even more time off soon to have her second child in late April/early May, so Wolverhampton will be one of her last stage appearances for a while.
But she assured her fans she will be in the studio recording a new album.
"I'm planning as much writing and recording as the new baby will allow," she adds.
"I am working on a new album at the moment which hopefully will be well on the way to being finished before the baby arrives. It is a celebration of 20 years in the music industry for me and will be an album revisiting some of my favourite songs from the past with new ideas and with guest performers too."
Kate started out in the music industry 20 years ago. Since then she has released 11 albums. Looking back over her successful career, she says: "I really just started out on this career path because I enjoyed singing and other people enjoyed listening to me and one thing led to another. I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to do something I love so much."
Tickets are priced between £12 and £20. For more information go to www.wolvescivic.co.uk
