Alan jazzes up mornings at his Lichfield café

Jazz often conjures up images of late-night sounds in dark basement clubs – but a guitar-playing Lichfield café owner could change all that.

Alan Garwood, who recently opened the Flamingo Tea Rooms, in Lombard Street, is launching a series of live jazz sessions at his café, starting on Saturday.

He and his Carte Blanche Trio will be serving up cool sounds along with the hot coffee from 10.30am, and Birmingham-based jazz and blues pianist Freddie Pirotta will be the featured artist for the first one-hour session.

Alan said: "The big attraction for audience and performers alike is the novelty and intimacy of having a professional act brought into sharper focus by moving from a big stage to our more intimate setting – which will be up close and personal."
