Lisa Billingham returned to her home town of Halesowen from Fuerteventura in March last year when lockdown was announced.

The 47-year-old took the time to write a book which she hopes will be able to help others with mental health issues.

Lisa was diagnosed with stress, anxiety and depression in 2011 and when she was forced into lockdown in 2020, she saw the perfect opportunity to write her first novel ‘Katie, A New Chapter’ based loosely on her life experiences.

She sold dozens within the first couple of months, including to readers in America.

Lisa said: “It’s loosely based on my life experiences, it’s about a young girl who suffers with her mental health and low confidence and self esteem and she battles with that and relationships and life in general.

“She also has to have a hysterectomy at a young age without having children and it’s about how she overcomes it. I set it in the 90s as I didn’t want Covid anywhere near it.

"The reviews have come back and are very good. I’m planning on writing five novels in this series which is the five main characters’ stories.”
