The ghostly goings-on were organised by hospital staff on the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital who were determined their young patients would not miss out on the trick-or-treating celebrations.

Head of children’s services Karen Anderson said it was a lovely and spooky day. She said: “We made sure it wasn’t too scary for the little ones and that there were plenty of treats.

“We hold special themed fun days each month and I’m so proud of the way our teams throw themselves into it, putting a smile on children’s faces and taking away some of the concerns they may feel about being in hospital.

“In November we will be joining in with Children In Need Day and also getting the eye patches and parrots out for Pirates Day on November 28.”

Other wards and departments at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust held cake sales, while the Trust charity organised a Halloween Bake Off competition.
