Ravens Rescue UK to host charity dog olympics event
A Black Country charity is set to hold dog olympics at a park this weekend to raise money.
Ravens Rescue UK will host the special event at Buffery Park, 33 Paradise, on Saturday.
An agility course will put the dogs through their paces, with another event for the 'waggiest tail'.
The event will feature face painting and a tombola.
Kerry Copson, event organiser, said: "There will be a total of 12 events including an agility course, musical hoops, catch the sausage, a doggy dash over a hundred metre course and then we've got the waggiest tail, cleverest canine, along with others.
"We desperately need to raise funds because every animal we have needs specialist treatment.
"We're making our own dog treats and we've got things to sell and it's all dog-related.
"We were looking to do something different. I've seen it done in America before but I've not seen it in the UK or the Black Country.
"I want to raise money for the animals we've got and the park has let us use it as a venue."
The event will be opened by Dave Heeley, a blind marathon runner who is the first blind person in the world to have completed the ultimate endurance challenge of seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.
Officers from the West Midlands Police will also be attending the event.
The event is not ticketed, but entry into the events costs £1.50 per event.
