TV property stars Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer paid a whistle-stop visit to the Black Country as part of their new nationwide tour.
Shoppers at Merry Hill, in Brierley Hill, flocked to meet the Location, Location, Location duo as they gave a talk on smart meters and using less energy around the household.
The pair said their fourth and 'favourite' stop of their campaign with Smart Energy GB was about 'getting people to stop and have a think'.
Mr Spencer said: "Smart meters are new technology that people should have a look at.
"Smart meters put you in control and it doesn't have to be as expensive as it currently is.
"The whole concept does seem to have gone down well with people.
"Why wouldn't you have a smart meter? You are either part of the problem of wasting energy and costing yourself too much money or you are part of the solution.
The meters replace the traditional meters and look to give accurate bills, near real time information on energy use in pounds and pence, and greater control over the way we buy and use energy.
Kirstie Allsopp said their campaign, which will now travel to Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds and Norwich, was about informing people who may not be aware the free meters were available to them.
She said: "We are on a national campaign going around the country and informing people about smart meters. We have all got to use less energy and it is impossible to know how to do that unless you have got a smart meter – they are free but you can't get one unless you know about them.
"We are going around the country talking about something we feel passionate about. We are all over the place but obviously Dudley is our favourite – It has been amazing."
