The Black Country Road Run returns to Halesowen this weekend with hundreds of people having already signed up to take the start.

And families are being urged to pull on their trainers to take part in the fun run being staged on the day.

The run, taking place on Sunday, features three main events.

It begins at 9am with a competitive 5km run, where participants will have to complete a set course in 30 minutes.

This will be followed by a 10km run held at 9.45am and family fun run on 11.30am.

Alan Bowler, from Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club, which is behind the event says it makes for a fun day for families.

"We would love to have more families out on the day," he said.

"People can run, they can walk. They could even take the dog. We just want people to have a good time.

"It is an event which is open to all ages."

The event now takes place in July, to link up with the Black Country Festival which is a month-long community and culture celebration around Black Country Day on July 14.

Streets will be closed off in Halesowen when the run takes place with race organisers encouraging people to sign up to enjoying getting fit and raising money for charity.

People can raise money for their own charities or back the Rotary Club's own good causes.

The course takes a clockwise route around the town centre.
