Around 1,500 people – some in Oktoberfest fancy dress – attended two sessions of the event – which ran between 1pm and 5pm, and then again 6pm and 10pm.

It included two pint steins of German beer, Bavarian cuisine including bratwursts and pretzels, an oompah band and German entertainers, as well as German drinking games and beer maid hostesses.

Gabrielle Hyde, marketing manager for the Hangar, said: "Oktoberfest at the Hangar was a huge success.

"People were dancing on the benches, clinking their steins, dancing to the oompah band and entertainers, and really getting into the spirit of the event.
