Santa Paws has come to town!

The new pop-up Barky Blinders Cafe in Birmingham was pure doggie heaven for devoted pet owners.

The event, the first of its kind for Birmingham city centre, was held over two days weekends just before Christmas. It boasted a combined theme of Peaky Blinders and Christmas, with pet owners encouraged to dress up their pooch to match.

Dogs could dress up for the event

Dog lovers arrived, with their pets kitted out in their finest Christmas jumpers or best Tommy Shelby newsboy cap, to the Queen's Arms in Newhall Street for the merry event.

Pooches were each given a puppaccino to enjoy, a full dog-friendly roast dinner, and even had the chance to meet the big man himself – Santa Paws!

Puppies and dogs could meet Santa

Running the show were friends of more than 10 years Katie and Hannah - both age 32 – whose love of dogs inspired them to set up Barky Blinders.

Hannah said: "We decided to do this initially because we love dogs so much and wanted somewhere dog owners and dog lovers could go and get festive but it’s also part of a bigger ambition.

"Our goal is to open a doggy day care or doggy cafe in Birmingham to open in 2020, the pop up was just a bit of fun and to get the name out there.

Cupcakes for the event

"If and when a fitting permanent space is found it will be doggy day care Monday to Friday and then will host dog 'pawties' on weekends."

There was also a stall selling handmade dog treats, cakes and treats available for humans, and a 'best-dressed' competition.

A special puppy corner was created in a quiet area of the pub so those with younger dogs could let them socialise with other puppies their own age.
